OVERFLOW || The Secret Place
Matthew 27:50-54 NLT
50 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. 53 They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people. 54 The Roman officer and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said, “This man truly was the Son of God!”
His presence is found in the Secret Place.
John 10:27 : My sheep hear my voice, they know me and they follow me.
Hear, Connect and Obey
You learn how to do this in your daily Secret Place!
DAILY SECRET PLACE | Five More Minutes
When we set apart time and space to meet with God, Holy Spirit responds to our expectancy with His presence. When we make the secret place our priority, we become the place where Heaven touches Earth
Let’s not lose the awe and wonder of the Secret Place and the gift we have been given to be able to enter in at any time, any place, whenever for however long we want.
We have been given access to the very presence of THE VERY LIVING GOD ALMIGHTY!
That should never get old. That should never lose its awe and wonder!
We Have Access:
We have all been given access to the presence of God!
There was a HIGH price paid to give you that access!
Matthew 27:50-54
50 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
The High priest was the only one given access to the Holies of Holies and only once a year to make atonement for himself and the people on the day of atonement.
This area was enclosed by a curtain which separated the holy place from the Holies of Holies.
This curtain was:
60 feet long and 30 feet wide
Thickness of a man’s palm width – four inches thick!
72 squares sewn together
So heavy that it took 300 hundred priests to lift and hang it all.
And at the death of Jesus Christ that veil that made His presence inaccessible to us was torn from TOP to BOTTOM!
Hebrews 10:19 NLT And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
1 Cor 3:16 NLT Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
How Will We Respond?
The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. 53 They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.
54 The Roman officer and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said, “This man truly was the Son of God!”
Jesus died, the veil tore and
Creation responded
The dead responded
The unbeliever responded
How will we respond to the access we have been given?
Church there is a holy invitation today to discover, delight and dwell in the treasure that is the Secret place.
The Holy Invitation:
Discover
Set apart a time and place and daily encounter Jesus. Make time to hear, connect so that you are empowered to obey. Read your word, pray, sing to Him.
6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6 NKJV
CAUTION: Don’t entertain other voices at that time. That time is set apart to hear from Him alone.
Delight
Enjoy His presence
Our motivation to abide should be love.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. Rev 21:3 ESV
Weep at His feet again. Wash His feet with your tears or your most expensive perfume. Love on Him. Enjoy Him. Dance with Him. Enjoy the romance found His presence.
CAUTION: Don’t rush or hurry out of this time. Set apart ample time to just enjoy Him. Choose to be a Mary. Matthew 26:7,Mark 14:3,Luke 7:37 NIV
Dwell
Practice the Presence of God by learning to dwell/abide.
If you hear Him calling your name, respond. If you sense Him tugging you to come be with Him, go! If you feel led to sing or praise: open up your mouth! Learn to respond to His presence anywhere and anytime!
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. John 15:4 NLT
CAUTION: Don’t limit His presence to your time and place. He doesn’t just want to meet with you during your set apart time. He wants your life. Your full attention. He wants to whisk you away and love you and for you to love on Him.
